Mrs Taylor has overall responsibility for The Ruth Gorse Academy, she has been the Principal since the academy opened in September 2014. Prior to this she was the Vice Principal at The Farnley Academy, another Gorse Academies Trust school and was instrumental in the academy obtaining its Outstanding Ofsted judgement in December 2013. Mrs Taylor is a Drama and Dance teacher and also inspects as part of the school inspection team; Ofsted.

Mrs Moore started her career in fashion where she worked as both a designer and a buyer. Though her love for textiles, this led her to train to become a teacher in 2010. Working in both Kent and Hull as a textiles teacher, she developed a passion for supporting students who face disadvantage and therefore joined The Gorse Academies Trust. Since joining the trust, she has progressed her knowledge and experience and now specialises in pastoral work focusing on behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and inclusion.

Mr Cornfoot is now entering his fourteenth year as a teacher and has worked under Sir John Townsley for all of his career. Earlier in his career he had Assistant Pastoral responsibility at Morley High School before becoming the school’s international diversion co-ordinator, a role that saw him visit countries such as Sweden, Poland and Zambia. He then became Curriculum Leader of Geography before joining the academy’s Senior Leadership Team, following a brief secondment into the primary sector, he joined The Ruth Gorse Academy and became Vice Principal.

Mrs Flower has been teaching for over ten years and remains passionate about the benefit of the Arts. As a former Head of Year 7 she knows how vital the transition from Primary to Secondary is. Her responsibilities include; attendance, Forensic Reading, transition, school trips and visits and community. Mrs Flower has lead on attendance at my previous school in Bradford and joined The Ruth Gorse Academy three and a half years ago as Head of Year 7. The Ruth Gorse Academy receiving Outstanding from OFSTED is one of the highlights of her career.

Mrs Murray re-trained to become a teacher after being cabin crew and then a shift manager to ‘Farmers Boy’ (a food production company for Morrison’s).
Mrs Murray started as an NQT at a school in Bradford where she was filmed for the whole year for Teachers TV. She then progressed to Assistant Head of Department and then left to become Head of Department at Batley Grammar School and later for a bigger department at Westborough. She then moved to The Ruth Gorse Academy when it opened on Black Bull Street and became Assistant Principal in January 2019.
