ACE Ambassadors

ACE stands for Awareness and Celebration of Equality, and is a driving force in ensuring that all of the students at The Ruth Gorse Academy are able to appreciate the benefits of equality and diversity. The work of the ACE ambassadors helps to support our statutory PSHE/RSHE curriculum by drawing attention to how elements relate to specific protected characteristics.

Who are our ACE Champions?

Each year, students apply to become a part of the student leadership team, with specific responsibilities linked to the work of our ACE Ambassadors.

This year, we are delighted to introduce our new ACE Ambassadors, alongside the ACE Champions who will lead this group throughout the academic year.

What are the Protected Characteristics?

The 9 Protected Characteristics include:

  • age
  • disability
  • gender reassignment
  • marriage and civil partnership
  • pregnancy and maternity
  • race
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation

The ACE Ambassadors aim to:

  • educate students about the Equality Act 2010
  • educate students about the 9 Protected Characteristics
  • promote acceptable behaviour in a professional setting, irrespective of cultural practice or social acceptance

We are extremely proud of the work that our ACE ambassadors complete throughout the academic year. Throughout the academic year, our ACE Ambassadors carry out a range of activities including:

  • Student Voice

  • Culture Day
