At The Ruth Gorse Academy we are very proud of our partnerships and aim to collaborate with relevant partners for the benefit of our students, exposing them to new and exciting opportunities. Our current partners are:
Leeds Volleyball Team
The Leeds Volleyball team will always hold a special partnership with the academy as Ruth Gorse was a member of their team, playing for the Leeds Volleyball team over a number of years. The team use our facilities for training and matches every week. In addition we are fortunate to house their junior training programmes; providing our students with the opportunity on their door step to become part of the best Volleyball squad in Yorkshire!
The Royal Armouries
The Royal Armouries Museum is located at Leeds Dock, just across the road. It is home to the national collection of arms and armour with six themed galleries.
As a partner school we gain access to new workshops and resources and we work with the Armouries on community projects together such as the Kids in Museums takeover day. In addition our staff work with them to further improve and enhance their education programme positively impacting on all the schools who visit the armouries. We also allow the armouries education staff to come to the academy and shadow teachers for a day so they can learn more about how schools are currently operating and keeping up with current practice.
RowLeeds consists of several important partners across the city, including The GORSE Academies Trust, RowUK, the University of Leeds (UoL), Leeds Rowing Club, Leeds City Council and Yorkshire Sport Foundation. These organisations have come together to build the sport in the region and put Leeds on the rowing map. The Ruth Gorse Academy sits at the forefront of junior rowing in the city, uniquely being one of very few state schools in the country to have its own rowing club, The GORSE Boat Club.
The club rows out of the state-of-the-art Leeds Boat House, just five minutes around the corner from The Ruth Gorse Academy. In partnership with the University of Leeds and RowUK, we are building a programme which will see students excel both on the water and off it.
