The Ruth Gorse Academy has partnered with Symington’s to give 15 students an insight into the world of manufacturing. The students, who will work on the project over the forthcoming academic year, will have the opportunity to develop an “on the go” healthy breakfast product from concept to launch, together with a marketing plan.
Sky
Have supported visits to their Leeds Dock offices for the Women into STEM event, discussed career opportunities with our students at the TRGA Careers Fair and Careers Drop-Down Day and have supported our students on The Diana Award with their social action project.
Curtins
Delivered assemblies for the Teach First Big Class Challenge, offered a dedicated work experience placement for two of our Year 10 students and discussed the wide range of careers available in Engineering at the TRGA Careers Fair and Careers Drop-Down Day.
Civil Service / DWP
Delivered an assembly with our entire Year 10 cohort about careers in the Civil Service with the DWP at Quarry House in Leeds and the Civil Service Fast Track Apprenticeship programme.

Supported our TRGA Careers Fair and Careers Drop-Down Day and many other events, including assemblies for National Careers Week and bespoke mock interviews for some of our Year 10 students at the NHS Employers offices.

Have supported TRGA throughout the year with volunteers for mock interviews and careers events, including assemblies on careers information about the Leeds City Region.

Provided volunteers for our girls football club via their Students into Schools programme.

Spoke with our Year 8 students about the PeaceJam project and provided numerous opportunities for our students, including the Powering Transformation Year 7 ICT challenge with the Transformation Trust and Dell.

Run the MOSAIC Enterprise Challenge with a small group of our Year 9 students on an annual basis, using business mentors from KPMG.

Deliver careers sessions about Higher Education and career planning with small groups of our students in Year 7 to Year 10.
WISE
Delivered the People Like Me event at the school with local volunteers to encourage our female Science students to get in to Engineering in the future.

Year 10 BTEC Music students visited the LCOM campus to find out more about what studying Music Performance, Production or Technology would be like at a higher level.
Kirklees College
Year 8, 9 and 10 Music students attended the ‘Track in a Day’ careers event to learn more about recording their own music track.
Go Higher West Yorkshire
Provide support and funding for the school to run careers and enterprise events, through the NCOP (National Collaborative Outreach Programme) funding.

Delivered oracy and presentation skills workshops with all of our Year 10 students.

Ran the National Enterprise Challenge with our Year 9 students, with the winning team attending the finals day on Wednesday 4th July.
