Our Physical Education curriculum is inspirational and exciting, and we offer a plethora of opportunities to young people to develop in sports and physical activity. Our curriculum is truly inclusive and we offer excellent opportunities for students of all abilities and experiences. We are exceptionally proud that for the third year in a row, TRGA’s PE department has secured Platinum in the School Games Mark! The School Games Mark rewards and recognises a school’s provision and uptake in the School Games against a national benchmark and celebrates keeping young people active.

Our Excellence in Sport aims to identify, support and encourage elite athletes within our academy. Students on the Excellence in Sport programme represent sports at an elite level and are signed on sporting scholarships.

Headingley Cricket stadium tour: Our Excellence in Sport cohort were invited to meet Hollie Armitage (Captain) and Daniella Hazel (Coach) of the women’s Northern Super Chargers team to complete a Q&A and a tour of Headingley cricket stadium:

England Rugby training: During the six nations, the cohort attended York LNER stadium to watch the men’s open training

Manchester City stadium tour: Our Year 7 – 9 cohort attended Manchester City stadium for a tour of the ground and to experience a day in the life of a footballer:

Jaydon Paddock British Athlete visit: Jaydon is a British tumbling athlete who delivered a bespoke session to our cohort detailing his experiences and challenges in elite sport, before delivering a practical Gymnastics and stunt session:

Health and wellbeing seminar: Led by Miss Rhodes, The Gorse Academies Trust Partnership Director of Sport, Physical Education and Health and Coach Klemencic, Trust Lead of Strength and conditioning and expert in health and wellbeing, the seminar focused on health and wellbeing, with consideration of how nutrition can be used to support training and competition.
