We would like to wish all our families a happy new year and all the best for 2015. We certainly ended 2014 with a bang through our Festive Celebration Evening.

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the evening, it was a brilliant evening that provided a great opportunity to showcase the students and their talents. It was fantastic to see so many students achieving the accolade of a ‘Ruth Gorse Citizen’. This was made even more special by the attendance of Ruth Gorse’s parents and husband Chris, who spoke movingly about Ruth’s passion and love of teaching.

Mrs Taylor

This week saw the first meetings with the two contractors (Bam and Sir Robert McAlpine) who will simultaneously compete to win the bid to build the new Ruth Gorse Academy building on Black Bull Street. Each week the designs that the contractors put forward are displayed within school and students are encouraged to comment on them, providing feedback (both positive and negative!). It is anticipated that this process will last about 6 weeks before a final contractor is chosen and building on the site can begin.
