Leeds Volleyball club is on the verge of a new chapter in its 43year history!

Starting September 2016 Leeds VC will be moving their club into “The Ruth Gorse Academy.” Those players who have been with the club from the 1990’s will remember Ruth (Nicholls) Gorse. She was a talented player for our women’s 1st team and through her coaching loved developing younger players. Her life and career was cut short, at the age of 35 from Breast cancer. Volleyball was one of Ruth’s passions. The partnership between Leeds VC and The Ruth Gorse academy is more than a legacy to her memory. Her father Keith Nicholls was involved with the Sports hall design and her coach Dave Speers and 90’s team mate Penny Speers have been working with TRGA to bring this project to life.

This partnership will bring many sporting opportunities for young people in our community and give Leeds VC the potential to become the county’s premier community club.

Leeds VC would like to thank the school for this opportunity. With special thanks to Sir John Townsley whose vision this was. Ruth’s family, the Ruth Nichols trust, the schools staff and West Yorkshire Sport for their continued support.
