Message from the principal

As we are approaching the end of our first term of this school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support of all that we do here at The Ruth Gorse Academy.

For me, it has been wonderful to see the Year 7s’ develop and mature over the course of this term under the guidance from staff and with support from Year 8. There have been so many highlights, but moments that have really stood out for me, have been the fun we all had on the reward trip to Flamingo Land, the opportunities to Celebrate student’s achievements within our Celebration Assemblies and the mature way in which students approached and learnt from SPACE Day.

The term has ended in style with three days of celebrations including our Christmas Jumper day (from which we raised £135 for St Georges’ Crypt), the Christmas Lunch that staff and students ate together and our Celebration Assembly on Thursday.

Students will return to school on Monday 4 January 2016 for the start of the Spring Term. We have lots to look forward to, including Year 7 parents evening, our next SPACE day and my favourite, World Book Day on Thursday 4 March.

Work is progressing well on the new permanent site, with the steel structure now almost completed and concrete flooring now in place. The building contractor are confident that all will be ready in time for us opening in September 2016.

I do hope that you and your family have a very lovely festive break and enjoy the time to spend with
family and friends.
