At The Ruth Gorse Academy, we are pleased to offer a selection of instrumental lessons to all students, these are taught by experienced, professional musicians. Our diverse and high-quality range of instrument tuition is significantly subsidised to help reduce the cost to parents/carers. The instruments we have on offer are as follows:
- Piano
- Guitar – Electric/Acoustic/Bass
- Voice
- Drums
- Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello)
- Brass (Trumpet, Trombone)
- Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet)
Lessons are charged at £20 per term* for small group lessons and £40 per term for individual lessons. Lessons are weekly and last for 20 minutes each.
Students who are in receipt of Pupil Premium are able to access one small group lesson free of charge.
Payments can be made via Parent Pay by the following deadlines each term:
- Term 1: Friday 10 October 2025
- Term 2: Friday 16 January 2026
- Term 3: Friday 1 May 2026
There is no requirement to have previous experience as we often find starting secondary school is an ideal time to start learning an instrument.
Our commitment is not just to the individual peripatetic lessons but also to the delivery of high quality ensemble musical experiences that equip our students with valuable life skills as well as the essential music making skills required of a professional musician.
