Welcome to the website for The Ruth Gorse Academy. It provides key information about our academy which opened in September 2014 and is now in its fourth highly successful year, we currently have over 800 students on roll.

The Ruth Gorse Academy is an Outstanding provider (July 2017), delivering high quality education for each and every student. At the Academy we prepare young people for an ever-changing world that values self-confident, well-educated and enterprising individuals. To achieve this we provide education relevant to the 21st Century that emphasises traditional standards of uniform, discipline and respect.  We are “old fashioned” in our high expectations of students, but very up to date and modern in our teaching and learning methods.

September 2017 begins our second year on our permanent site in the centre of Leeds.  Designing and creating an academy that works for its students and staff, and will stand the test of time, has been an incredible journey and a privilege for our staff, students and the local community.  We see ourselves as an important part of the regeneration of our city, creating a centre for exceptional learning for young people in the south Leeds region.

For us it is vital that we work in partnership with our parents and carers, we recognise that you are the biggest influence on a young person and we want to utilise this partnership to support every young person’s development. If, like us, you are passionate about ensuring your children receive an education that is outstanding, please contact us and arrange to visit the academy.

Due to Mrs Rebekah Taylor’s forthcoming maternity leave she has been recently joined by Mr David Craine, who will act in the capacity of Associate Principal.

In addition to this Mrs Leanne Griffiths, Principal at The Morley Academy will, from the point at which Mrs Taylor begins her maternity leave, provide support and additional capacity to Mr Craine and the well-established wider leadership team already in place, as an Associate Executive Principal overseeing both The Morley Academy and The Ruth Gorse Academy in this role.

As part of the nationally renowned GORSE Academies Trust led by Sir John Townsley, The Ruth Gorse Academy also benefits from a rich partnership network enjoyed by students and staff alike. With excellent facilities and high quality teaching, the students at The Ruth Gorse Academy are happy, challenged, motivated and supported to achieve, often far beyond their dreams. Together, the staff and students create a vibrant, engaging school where, as a prospective parent or carer, you would want your child to thrive.

We look forward to meeting with you; and if you would like any further information, please contact the academy.
