I am delighted to welcome you to the website for The Ruth Gorse Academy; it provides key information about our academy which opened in September 2014 and is now in its sixth highly successful year.  We currently have over 1,200 students on roll.

The Ruth Gorse Academy is an Outstanding provider (Ofsted July 2017), delivering high quality education for each and every student. Our first set of GCSE results this summer have seen the academy achieve an impressive 62% Grade 4+ and 40% Grade 5+ in both English and Mathematics; a fantastic achievement taking into account the starting points of the cohort.  We expect these results to place us amongst the top performing schools nationally in terms of progress and we are very proud of all of our students and the dedication that they demonstrate.

At the Academy we prepare young people for an ever-changing world that values self-confident, well-educated and enterprising individuals. Our expertise in this area was rewarded recently as we were accredited with World Class School status in November 2018. To ensure students are prepared for their futures we provide an exceptional education relevant to the 21st Century that emphasises traditional standards of uniform, discipline and respect.

As a relatively new educational establishment designing and creating an academy that works for its students and staff, and will stand the test of time, has been an incredible journey and a privilege for our staff, students and the local community. We see ourselves as an important part of the regeneration of our city, creating a centre for exceptional learning for young people in the south Leeds region.

For us it is vital that we work in partnership with our parents and carers, we recognise that they are the biggest influence on a young person and we want to utilise this partnership to support every young person’s development. If you are a prospective parent/carer reading this and, like us, you are passionate about ensuring your children receive an education that is outstanding, please contact us and arrange to visit the academy.

As part of the nationally renowned GORSE Academies Trust led by Sir John Townsley and under the leadership of the Trust’s Executive Principal for 11-16 Education, Leanne Griffiths, The Ruth Gorse Academy also benefits from a rich partnership network enjoyed by students and staff alike. With excellent facilities and high quality teaching, the students at The Ruth Gorse Academy are happy, challenged, motivated and supported to achieve beyond what they are today. Together, the staff and students create a vibrant, engaging school where students thrive.
