Sports day 2026 Results
Thank you to all students who signed up to and took part in Sports Day 2026. It was an incredible day with high levels of competition and some very close results.
Aspiration Day – LBU
On Monday the 22nd June 2026, 15 of our Excellence in Sport cohort attended Leeds Beckett University Headingly campus to take part in a Aspiration Day. The purpose of the trip was to showcase a local University with a reputable Sporting campus and to explore the further education sporting opportunities available.
Y10 Cup Final
Ruth Gorse Academy were crowned “Champions of Champions” after an outstanding 4-1 victory over Farnley in the cup final at Leeds Beckett University.
Year 8/9 Boys Basketball
On Wednesday 13th May, our Y8/9 basketball team travelled to Leeds Beckett University’s Headingly Campus to compete in the Leeds Schools League finals.
Gorse Games Rounders
The year 9 Gorse Games rounders team competed in the Gorse Trust wide year 9 competition at Boston Spa Academy on Wednesday 6th May.
Year 7/8 Girls Basketball
TRGA hosted Allerton High in a home girls’ fixture. A tight first quarter finished with TRGA in the lead 08-06 with opening baskets from Milka and Heaven.
Y10 Semi Final vs Horsforth
Ruth Gorse booked their place in the Champions of Champions Cup Final after a hard-fought 3–2 victory away at Horsforth in the semi-final.
Girls Rounders
Great opening night for our rounders fixtures of 2026. The year 9 girls made a steady start, unfortunately losing their first fixture to Temple Moor.
Y10 vs Crawshaw
Ruth Gorse arrived at Crawshaw Academy for the quarter-final of the Champions of Champions Trophy – and what followed was a commanding, high-energy display from TRGA.
Y9 VS FARNLEY COC
The Y9 boys put in a brilliant display against The Farnley Academy in the quarter finals of the Champions of Champions Cup. Unfortunately they did not make it over the line, but the boys gave it their all nonetheless.
Y9 Leaders
On Thursday 30th April, seven of our fantastic leaders in Year 9 participated in a netball event with over fifty Year 5 and 6 pupils from local Primary Schools. All of our leaders were superb and led a carousel of netball drills followed by a highly competitive tournament.
Junior NBA vs Allerton High
Outstanding performances by all players. The first game TRGA narrowly lost to Allerton’s A team 28-26. MVP = Thomas D.
The second game was a superb win, TRGA won 36- 16 against Allerton’s B team. MVP = Chris O.
Y7 and 8 JR NBA
All players in the squad contributed excellently, and in the end, the team saw off their opponents to win 33-22 and progress to the semi finals, where the number 1 seed in the Yorkshire conferences will await them.
