Last week, Miss Rhodes, Miss Bishall, Mr Cox and Miss Finch took 9 of our rowers down to Dorney Lake, home of the 2012 Olympic Regatta, to the National Junior Sculling Head. This competition is the pinnacle of the Head Racing (Winter) season and to get there after less than 3 months of being an affiliated club, is testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes.
Both boys and girls crews performed incredibly well with the boys finishing an impressive 20th out of 48 and the girls 24th out of 44. Miss Rhodes and Mr Cox, who followed both races over the entire 3600m on their bikes, said the athletes were incredible. The grit and determination which they showed in overtaking several crews and rowing consistently over a relatively long distance for little legs, was outstanding.
Throughout the two days we were down in Dorney, the students from TRGA were impeccably behaved. It is a pleasure to see them working so well as a team and their attitude throughout was amazing. They were polite, organised and thoughtful and despite the enormity of the occasion, performed at their very best and without exception.
